College theme parties aren’t just about boozing it up, and acting the fool anymore. Well, that seems to still be a big part of them, but these days, students prefer to have their parties center around a theme to make them more fun and memorable. There are lots of different themes to choose from. Some of the most popular are Toga parties, Halloween parties, and era parties where a specific era in time is selected, and all party goers must arrive dressed in some sort of attire from that era.
Many people frown on college theme parties as they seem to only produce a lot of ruckus, and hangovers. There are some college theme parties that, even though they still involve ruckus and alcohol, can actually make a difference in the community they are held in. Here are some college theme parties that will make a difference in your community, and maybe cause people to lighten up a bit on their overall perception of them.
A Letter Party
Each partygoer must bring something that starts with a certain letter of the alphabet to donate to the chosen charity. For instance, if you choose the letter B, and want to give to a local animal shelter, guests could bring things like biscuits, bones, or brushes. You could pick a different letter and give the donations to a local nursing home. If one letter is too restrictive try choosing 2 or 3.
Another Letter Game
To support, and respect, to all the military men and women who serve in the armed forces, require your guests to bring a stamped letter to send to someone serving in the military. You could put a twist on it, and ask that everyone come dressed in military garb.
Fire Safety Theme Party
Make it a requirement that all guests bring a smoke detector, a carbon monoxide detector or a fire extinguisher, and give the items collected to the local fire company. Many fire companies have annual events in which they give away free fire prevention things.
Wipe away those tears Party
Did you know that many ambulance companies, hospitals, police departments, and fire companies include stuffed animals part of their inventory? It’s true. When they encounter small children who undoubtedly become filled with fear and sadness due to their situations, they are able to give the child a stuffed animal from their small arsenal of equipment as a way to calm the child. This would be a great theme party that could benefit many. The stuffed animals should be brand new so as to avoid any issues of germs and such. You could also put a twist on it, and ask your guests to come dressed up as their favorite stuffed animal.
You could also have door prizes at any of these parties, and give them away to the guests that bring in the most items. There’s a lot you can do to make these types of college theme parties really productive.
