There are only few European watch brands out of Switzerland that made an amazing breakthrough in the history of timepieces. The Panerai is one of such brands and the watches from Panerai are so great that they created a very good impression in the both side of the Atlantic. Their watches are widely used in the European fashion industry as well as in Hollywood. Numerous Hollywood celebrities and stars personally use Panerai.

Panerai was originated in Italy by Giovanni Panerai. This great watch artist started his solo watch business in 1860. At that time, wrist watches were not invented and watches were used only by the elite society. Panerai started to produce gorgeous designed watches and soon catch attention of the users. The major change came when they were selected as the brand for the Italian navy.

The navy started to use this brand soon after it came into the market. The major use of this brand by the Italian marina was during the Second World War. Meanwhile the company continued their production in limited edition and only the marina and selected VIPs were allowed to wear the watches by Panerai.

They came to the public market in 1993, but did not get as good reception as they were expecting. It came into the attention to the general customers in 1996, when Hollywood superstar Sylvester Stallone used a model of Panerai in his hit film Daylight. The model he used was a Panerai Luminor, which later became successful in the market.

Even after the brand came in the international market, they did not reduce their price and was still for the elite class of customers. But the availability in global market opens the door to the user who cannot afford the original Panerai to buy Luminor imitation watches in very low price.
