Chocolates and Flowers on Valentines’ Day
June 29th, 2010 by Admin
These days people tend to make a real fuss about Valentines’ day. It used to be the case that one red rose would do the trick, and your girlfriend would be happy for the rest of the day. Mind you, I am going back to my school days here to be honest!
In our twenty first century all consuming state, people expect a lot. It isn’t enough to give someone a single flower, a kiss on the cheek and then expect a night of romance – you have to work a bit harder than that! Last year for Valentines’ day I took my girlfriend out for a candle lit dinner, and I had some of her favourite chocolates and a bunch of red roses delivered to her work on the morning of Valentines’ day, so that all of her colleagues would be able to see what she had received. To be honest this is such a shallow gesture, and the thought of my girlfriend wanting to show off her gifts kind of bothers me a bit, but on the other hand all women want to be treated nicely and it is nice for them to show their friends that they actually have someone who will be nice to them.
I think that roses will always be the way to go on Valentines’ day. It is such a tradition that it is hard to get away from, but girls all love flowers – they just love more than one!
