AFTER THE DATEJUST

September 7th, 2010 by Admin

In 1945, Rolex SA made a phenomenal step by being the first watchmaker to produce a watch that had an automatically changing date on the dial and it was named the Rolex Datejust but with this step, a new problem confronted the still growing luxury watchmaker. Now that they had made a name for themselves, they had to reaffirm this and they had to do this quickly. Whenever somebody who is viewed as insignificant, a first timer or an amateur makes some sort of achievement in the world it is usually viewed with skepticism and most of the time it is dismissed as a fluke, beginners’ luck or however else will diminish the impact of any such achievement.

Rolex SA had gotten a lot of new following after the release of the Datejust but this following wouldn’t stay around for too long unless Rolex could prove that they didn’t just have the capacity to innovate but to improve on their innovations. Consistency is a widely sought after characteristic because it is also a statement of dependability. But Rolex also had to be careful to not to take too great a step so as to deny themselves room for improvement in the future. This was why, the luxurious masterpiece was chosen as the perfect watch to come after the Datejust. Since it was only an extra function ahead of the Datejust and still provided the masses with something they really needed everybody was satisfied in the end and you could to just by getting one of the classical accessories watches. Not everybody will always have the capacity to get the original and it’s not like there will come a day when one will come in your direction for free so the prestigious watches Day-Date will be quite a satisfactory replacement.
