The history of wedding favors is rooted from a very long time ago. The tradition was known widely among and practiced by the European aristocrats. At that period, in any wedding held by an aristocrat, the guests who came to the wedding were given favors. The favors are some kind of souvenirs that express how the bride and the groom appreciate their attendance at the wedding. Back at that era, the wedding favors are usually in the form of a box with sugar cubes in it. The box was made of precious materials such as crystal and porcelain or valuable stones. The sugar cubes symbolized royalty and wealth because at that moment, sugar is a very expensive commodity. As sugar became more and more affordable, it as replaced by almonds. In its development, almonds were coated with sugar candy and known as Jordan almonds that we know today.
Jordan almonds are still used as wedding favors until today along with many other items like card holders, coasters, picture frame or mini lanterns. There are also wedding favors with special theme like sport of the season in which the wedding takes place. American Bridal offers a wide range of wedding favors. The products are high quality yet affordable to any bride to be and groom to be. American Bridal continues to preserve the tradition of wedding favors.
